FAQ

How do I access a Medicare rebate?

You can access a Medicare rebate for psychological services by getting a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP. Having a MHCP means you can access 10 Medicare rebates per calendar year. Please bring your MHCP to your first session.

Private Health Insurance

Some private health Insurers reimburse for psychological services. Please refer to your health insurer for details.

Synergy 888 does not process these rebates, however, will provide invoices for you to claim from your private health insurance.

Synergy 888 requires 24 hours’ notice in the event of cancellation.

When less than 24 hours’ notice is given for a cancellation, 100% of the session fee will be charged. This is because the time has been reserved for you and it is a loss in multiple ways; a loss to another client who urgently wanted to see a psychologist, a loss to the psychologist who has spent time preparing for the session, and a loss to a client delaying therapeutic progress.

After I book an appointment, what happens next?

Once your appointment is confirmed, you’ll receive an email with an intake and consent form.

You will receive 2 reminders by email and SMS, 48 hrs & 24 hrs before your appointment.

Giving Back

To The Community

Siobhan offers her psychological services to The Disaster Response Network (DRN) providing support at no charge, to eligible organisations.

The Disaster Response Network (DRN) is a national volunteer network of APS psychologists with specialist training in supporting first responders affected by trauma and critical incident stress.

Working with Primary Health Networks, NGOs and other emergency service providers they proactively check the mental health of frontline staff who are repeatedly exposed to stressful and traumatic events in the course of their work.

Those exposed to crisis situations often need support from specifically trained psychologists. The DRN enhances existing systems, to ensure these individuals stay emotionally healthy, resilient and avoid burnout (APS, 2024).
