Common PTSD Symptopms
PTSD can be overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to define you. At Synergy 888 Psychology, we begin by speaking with you so that we can decide together what treatment is most likely to be effective for your situation.
We use EMDR therapy, as well as a broad range of other treatment options, depending on your specific concerns, personality and experiences. Where appropriate, we include EMDR therapy as part of our treatment protocols with an aim to help people recover from PTSD faster than traditional therapy.
Common symptoms for people experiencing PTSD include:
Flashbacks
Do you relive past trauma through flashbacks or nightmares?
Struggle
Do you struggle with anxiety, emotional numbness, or hypervigilance?
Avoidance
Do you avoid places, people, or situations that remind you of the trauma?
In a Loop
Does it feel like you’re stuck in a loop of fear, guilt, or distress?
What is EMDR & How Does It Help PTSD?
EMDR is a clinically proven therapy endorsed by WHO & Australian Psychological Society
Unlike traditional therapy, which often involves talking at length about trauma, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is different:
You don’t have to relive painful memories in detail.
Your brain naturally reprocesses trauma without emotional overwhelm.
Research shows faster recovery—many see significant improvement within 6–12 sessions (Bisson et al., 2013, Cochrane Review).
🔬 The Science Behind EMDR
During an EMDR session, you’ll briefly recall distressing memories while following guided eye movements or tapping exercises. This technique helps:
Reprogram the brain’s trauma response, making memories less distressing.
Replace negative beliefs (“I’m powerless”) with positive ones (“I am safe now”).
Reduce PTSD symptoms quickly, restoring emotional balance and peace of mind.

What to Expect in Your EMDR Therapy Sessions
Step 1: Initial Consultation
We’ll assess your symptoms, understand your history, and create a personalized EMDR treatment plan.
Step 2: Preparation & Safety Techniques
Before processing trauma, we teach you self-soothing and coping skills to ensure sessions feel safe and manageable.
Step 3: Trauma Reprocessing with EMDR
You’ll briefly recall distressing memories while following bilateral stimulation exercises (eye movements, tapping, or sounds). This helps your brain store the memory properly, reducing its emotional intensity.

Synergy 888 requires 24 hours’ notice in the event of cancellation.
When less than 24 hours’ notice is given for a cancellation, 100% of the session fee will be charged. This is because the time has been reserved for you and it is a loss in multiple ways; a loss to another client who urgently wanted to see a psychologist, a loss to the psychologist who has spent time preparing for the session, and a loss to a client delaying therapeutic progress.
